By Pokerman Dan

Winning on a consistent basis at the poker tables requires that one master the art of deception and develop quite a bit of poker skill. The player that strives to do this will even get to the point in their poker playing ability where they can lose some hands and still come out ahead.

There are a multitude of ways that a poker game can be played. Should you run into a game where few people are playing each hand and the pot does not ever grow big this would be considered a tight poker game.

A tight poker game basically means that whoever wins most of the hands still will not walk away with all that much money. Does this mean that if you run into a game like this that you shouldn't play it? Of Course not. Any money that can be won should be fought tooth and nail for.

When playing a tight poker game players are going to see that there is a lot of checking, smooth calling, and not much in the way of big raises. Players usually play this way so that they can draw to a nice hand at when the showdown comes they will have the top hand. If a player notices that all other players at a table are playing this way the player should come out raising more often then they normally would.

When a poker player plays in a live game they have no idea what type of game that they are going to be playing in before they sit down to play. If a player sits down and they do not like how the table is going they can request a table change. A table change could take some time depending on the size of the poker room.

When sitting at a live poker game and each hand is being raise on a regular basis feel free to stay seated as long as you have the bankroll and skills to be able to beat this kind of game. If you are more suited to a tight style of poker go ahead and ask to change tables.

A online poker player has the option to see if a poker game is tight even before sitting at the table. Before sitting down the player can see the average amount of people in a hand and the average pot size. For someone who likes to play in a tight poker game this is a great option.

With how popular poker has become finding a tight poker game is hard to do. Most new players are far to willing to gamble and not learn the skill of the game. All new players want a piece of every action at the poker table.

If a players plays a tight poker game as their personal strategy choice it will in the long run make them a far more profitable poker player. Players who do not play a tight game will chances hands that have almost no chance of winning. This may pay off once in a great while but this player will not win in the long run. Tight poker players usually only play premium starting hands and thereby increase their chances for winning.

No matter how much skill a poker player posses they will still run into some hand that even though they played the hand right they will still lose. Poker is gambling and there will always be a bit of a luck factor involved. But a poker player who uses a tight strategy will be able to cancel out this luck factor far more then a loose player will.
