Concentrating On Texas Holdem

By Holdem Doubler

Texas Hold'em has gained popularity throughout the beginning of the 21st century. The first tournaments were held in Las Vegas but the game got its start in Robstown, Texas. A group of Texan men brought the game up to Las Vegas during the 1960's.

It took a while for the game to catch on with the richer gamblers who frequented the Las Vegas strip. Once it did get into the more glamorous casinos, the game took off. There has been numerous books written about it and many televised shows.

Texas Hold' em's most famous televised show is the World Series of Poker. Chris Moneymaker, an online contestant to try to get into the series, won and went on to win the entire series in 2003. This act inspired millions of people to attempt to win an online competition to make it into the Texas Hold'em series each year.

Texas Hold'em is a version of community poker where the players bet blind bets before the dealer hands out the first two of seven cards. After the blind bet, the other players decide if they want to ante based on what two cards they were dealt. Once all the players, who will stay in on that hand, have anted, the dealer then puts out three face up cards onto what is called the window.

The window is the place, usually in the middle of the table for all players to see, where the dealer will place all the community cards. Community cards are five of the seven that the players will use to try to make a winning hand. Each player is dealt two face down cards that are their own.

After establishing who will play each round, after the initial three of the window are laid out, the real betting begins. Each player will look at their hole cards, the two they were given in the beginning, and the three in the window to decide if they have a chance to make a good enough hand to win the round. Once they have decided if they will stay in, they bet.

Each time a player bets, the other players have the ability to see the bet, raise the bet, or fold their hand. Seeing the bet is betting the same amount as the original bettor. Raising the bet is betting more than the original bettor.

The players get four chances to bet. The first is before the initial three window cards are dealt, after the first three window cards, and one time after each of the next two window cards are dealt. Betting four times, plus the ability to raise a bet, gives Texas Hold'em players the chance to make the pot fairly large.

Texas Hold'em has three different forms. Limit Hold'em, No-Limit Hold'em, and Pot-Limit Hold'em are the three types played. In the limit version of the game, the bets are set amounts called the big bet and the small bet however, No-Limit is the most popular form of Texas Hold'em.

The player to the left of the dealer starts the betting with the small blind and the next players places the big blind. In No-Limit, the small blind is usually half of the big blind. The ante that the other players will bet is equal to the amount of the big blind.

When the river, the last card dealt, is laid on the window, and the final bet has been made, the game ends. There is a showdown depending upon if more than one player has not folded his hand. The game of Texas Hold'em ends when the player with the best hand wins.

The Language of Poker Can Be Mysterious

By Ronald Donnio

The people who play poker speak their own language. A person who has never played poker but wants to start needs to learn a few basic words that will help them to not be automatically ambushed as a novice. This will help them to keep the other players from ganging up on them to get them out of the game quickly.

Most items in a game of poker have their own names. In Texas Hold'em, the most different language of all forms of poker is used. A new player will understand most any game of poker by learning the lingo of Texas Hold'em.

In a game of Texas Hold'em, the game starts out with up to five players and a dealer. In private, at-home games, a player is the dealer and still is allowed to bet and play. A chip or small device is passed around to let all the players know who is the first person to bet during each round.

The person to the dealer's left receives the chip. This person also is the first person to bet what is called the small blind. After this person, to their left, is the second person to bet what is called the big blind.

The small blind is generally half of the big blind. After these two players place their bets, which in normal games is the ante, the first two face-down cards are dealt to all the players. After all the players look at their hole cards, these two face-down cards, they each decide if they are going to bet or fold.

When a player decides to fold, they place their two cards into the middle of the table. If the player decides to stay in, they will then bet an amount equal to the big blind. If the person who had placed the small blind wishes to stay in after seeing their hole cards they will then raise their initial amount to equal the big blind also.

In the middle of the table the dealer will place the flop, after it has been established who is staying in the game. The flop is the first three of the community cards which are placed face-up. The community cards are the ones in the middle of the table for all the players to use to make their hands.

The community cards have a special name, which is the window. The players will use the cards in the window and their two hole cards to make a winning hand. Respectively, the turn and the river are the last two community cards dealt.

After each time the dealer deals cards, the hole cards, the flop, the turn and the river, the players place bets. Unless he or she has folded, the first person to bet would be the person with the dealer's chip. If this person has folded, the next person in line to the left would bet first.

After all the bets have been made, the players will then perform what is called a showdown. That is, if there is more than one player left at the end of the round. The showdown is when the remaining players show their cards to reveal who has the highest-ranking hand.

The highest-ranking hand wins the round. If a player bets all their money and loses, they are eliminated from the game. Knowing the language will help you look like you know what you are doing and if you practice it, it is not a very complex language.

Sports Betting - A Brief Explanation

By Allison Thompson

There are two interests which many men enjoy which when combined together result in "sports betting". Nearly every time a group a of guys get together to watch a sports match they end up placing bets with each other as to who is going to win. Certainly it does not matter which sport it is they will always find something to talk about and which could even change the course of the games history. To really get involved in the action some spectators do like to try and determine which team is going to win certain games. It is this which turns a friendly game into one that involves sports betting.

It may sound addictive, but sports' betting is just for fun and is an ideal way for you to bond with your friends. You don't even have to bet much in order to still have a good time. Certainly sports betting can actually make the outcome of a game more meaning and certainly make watching or listening to it more exciting. Below are some basics to help you get started with sports betting.

To be able place bets you first need to become a member of a Sports Book. This is a place where you allowed to place bets. Currently in the USA there are only four States where betting is legal, but it can be done illegally and you will need to find a bookie in order to place yours and you have to be over 21 years of age. You can bet on all kinds of sports from professional and college football and basketball, to professional hockey or baseball, to horse racing and dog racing. In fact today whatever sport you like then you are sure to be able to place any number of different bets on them. You can place a bet relating to what the combined score of the two teams involved will be at the end of the game or you can bet which opponent will be knocked out in which round, to you betting on what side of the coin will land on after it has been tossed. What you are doing is placing bets on what you thing are the chances of a team winning or losing (statistical odds) will be.

With sports betting the bookies rely on these statics to help them determine which of the teams they think are going to win. There is also something they do called a "spread" which is a points advantage that is given to weaker teams who are expected to lose by a particular number of points. This is their way of making even bets possible for a Sports Book. So say a person bet on a team who is expected to lose, they will still win their bet as long as the team loses by the number of points stated.

Occasionally your bookie may ask you to place bets that are some points above what you would actually win and they do this in order that they can make some money.

With sports betting there are a number of different bets that you can place. You have straights, parlays, teasers as well as over/under bets. Yet the most common bet of all placed by many is the straight one and it is the one you decide whether the team you are betting on is going to win or lose the game. The over/under bet is the one where the scores for the two teams involved are combined. As for parlays you are asked to bet on the outcome of several games and teasers are similar to these except you have the chance to add or subtract points from the spread to make the bet you have placed much stronger. Therefore how interesting and challenging sports betting is for you will depend largely on what kinds of bets you place.

Above we have shown you what the basics of sports betting are. So why not give it a try and have some fun as well. But remember to not get too carried away and go out and use your 401K plan, you may just end up regretting this for the rest of your life.

Simple Strategies Help to Win at Poker

By Poker Cracker

Poker does not have just one strategy for winning. A major factor in winning, luck of the draw makes poker one of the hardest games to master. It is not an impossible dream as many people have mastered it.

Playing as though you can see your opponent's cards is an underlying strategy of playing poker. After learning all the other points to the game, this is the one key to winning it all. You are playing carefully and strategically if you play this way.

One of the strategies, the hardest to understand, of playing poker is beating the pot odds by having a higher chance of winning. The ratio of the amount of the pot to the amount required to stay in the game is the pot odds. If the pot is $100 and the amount needed to bet is $20 then the ratio is 5:1.

The pot odds must be less than that chance of winning odds. That the example mentioned, imagine there are four players betting. The number of players makes the chance of winning 4:1, which is higher than the pot odds.

The reason this strategy is the most important is because if the player wants to stay in the game long enough to either break even or slim down the amount of other players, this ratio needs to be met. If, however, the player bets on the 5:1 ratio and there are five players left, the players chance of winning, instead of just breaking even, are lessened. Paying attention to these odds gives the player an advantage to those who don't.

The amount of quick thinking raises as the amount of the pot raises which makes this a very hard strategy to grasp. To still have time to make your play while the timer is running; don't take up too much time figuring out the odds. A good strategy in poker is taking your time, but with the time limit being so short, it is not a good idea to take up all that time figuring out the odds when you should be figuring out your hand.

Deception is the most essential trait a person needs in order to be good at poker. Two key elements of deception are bluffing and slow playing. Also helpful are reading people's poker faces and knowing their tells.

Every player needs to be able to perform the principle strategy of poker, which is bluffing. The best tactic for winning is being able to bluff your opponents. How big or how low you bet is a way to bluff your opponents.

If you have a surefire winner of a hand, bet just above the minimum for the first couple of flops. Never bet too big because then that becomes your tell. If you have a very bad hand and the window isn't showing anything that could possibly be an addition to a good hand, bet smoothly to make the other players believe you have a high pair hidden.

A non-aggressive deception is where the player has a very bad hand but bets very low to make the other players keep betting, this is called slow playing. The slow player continues to bet low until the other players feel the hand is too dangerous, because they are now deep into the hand, and fold. A very easy deception, pushing the other players to fold by slowly making the pot bigger is a good strategy unless you've used it too often and it has become a tell.

Betting too big when you have a good hand is giving off hints of your strategy, which is not the key to winning at poker. What cards are dealt is the majority of the chances of winning therefore, these strategies do not always work. If used right, these strategies will help you to win if just by eliminating other players.

Poker Comes in All Shapes and Sizes

Poker players speak a language of the own. A person who has never played but wants to start needs to learn a few words to keep them from being ganged upon by the other players. This will help them to keep the other players from automatically ambushing them as a novice and getting them out of the game too quickly.

Each item in a game of poker has its own name. Texas Hold'em has the most different language out of all the forms of poker. Using the Texas Hold'em lingo will help a new player to understand most any game of poker.

The game of Texas Hold'em starts out with up to five players and a dealer. A player is the dealer and allowed to bet and play in private at home games. The first person to bet during each round is acknowledged by the use of a chip or small device that is passed around to each player in turn.

The person to the left of the dealer is the first person to receive this chip. The small blind is what the first person begins the betting with. The person to the left of this first person is the person who bets the big blind.

The dealer will place the flop onto the middle of the table once it has been established who is going to continue in the game. The first three face-up cards are the flop. The flop is the start of the community cards that sit in the middle of the table for all the players to use.

The community cards in the middle of the table are called the window. All the players use these five cards plus their two hole cards to determine a winning hand. The last two community cards are called the turn and the river, respectively.

After each time the dealer deals cards, the hole cards, the flop, the turn and the river, the players place bets. Unless he or she has folded, the first person to bet would be the person with the dealer's chip. If this person has folded, the next person in line to the left would bet first.

A showdown is done after all the bets have been made. If there is more than one player after all the bets have been made then those will perform the showdown. This is when all the remaining players reveal who has the highest-ranking hand.

Once the hands are shown, the person with the highest-ranking hand wins the round. The only way to be eliminated from Texas Hold'em is to bet all your money and lose. It is not a very complex language but knowing it will help you look like you know what you are doing.

Are Their Winning Online Poker Players Out There?

By Hairy Gingo

To some it might seem silly to want to be a professional poker player. However, to others there is no other profession desired. To the rest, poker is a fun pastime that can be financially rewarding as well as a confidence boost.

It is necessary to know a few simple rules of the game for those of us who wish to make money from playing poker, either professionally or otherwise. When playing a game like poker, the most important rule to know your opponents. It will help you to become the best poker player you can by knowing the other players and the signs the player provide telling you whether they have a good hand or a poor one.

The signs that players have are called tells. When someone has a tell, it is almost like holding your hand so that every one can see what cards you have. Tells range from facial expressions that come when you have a winning or losing hand to how you bet.

Seasoned players will no longer convey the beginner tells like facial expressions such as surprise and anguish. It is a rudimentary law of poker to be able to know your expressions and control them. After you have become a seasoned player, this type of tell can become a trick you can use on novices.

Most People cannot control consciously the basic of tells which is the betting. Forcing other players to bet more on a hand that the player knows will not succeed is being an aggressive player. In most cases this is a good move.

In a case where it is a good choice, the bettor has a very low hand that might win, like an ace in the hole. it is a good play to bet also if the other players have less chips than you. However, if there is another player who has more chips than you, they can turn the play back on you and make you bet all in when you only have a small chance to win.

Always pay attention to the tells of other players but pay equal attention to every other characteristic of the game. The other important characteristics are what cards are in the window, the community cards, and how the other players are betting. If the window and the betting seem to show that someone has a sure-fire winner of a hand, it is a good idea to fold your hand.

You have a good hand if you were dealt a pair in your hole, the two face-down cards you were dealt in the beginning. You can play aggressively even if it is just a pair of twos. Bluffing with a pair, to either make the other players think you have an amazing hand or to make them think you have a rotten hand, usually wins because the chance of getting a pair is much higher than the chances of getting two pairs.

If you have only an ace in the hole, and no other player seems to want to bet more than the minimum, then the chances are that they do not have a pair. With this, you can bet, but not aggressively, unless you enjoy risks and have enough money to back up your adventuresome nature. There is always the chance that the window will reveal a pair to an opponent.

You might get a flush if your two hole cards are of a matching suit and at least two more of the flop cards are of the same suit because the turn or the river, the last two cards dealt, might give you the fifth of that suit. However, remember that it is just as hard to pull a flush as it is an inside straight. Have a backup plan for that hand if you are going to bet because there is a less than .5% chance of getting either a flush or a straight.

If you feel comfortable with the play, it is a good play. After you have been playing with players who have a little knowledge of the game for a while, you will be able to tell what to do right when you are dealt the first two cards. Always remember, the most important rule; watch for your tells and others.

How to Punish Players At The Poker Table

By Poker Cracker

There is no one strategy for winning a poker game. Since the luck of the draw is a major factor in winning at cards, poker is one of the hardest games to master. Many people have become master poker players so it is not an impossible dream.

Playing as though you can see your opponent's cards is an underlying strategy of playing poker. After learning all the other points to the game, this is the one key to winning it all. You are playing carefully and strategically if you play this way.

One of the most important and hardest to understand concepts in the strategy of playing poker is beating the pot odds by having a higher chance of winning. Pot odds are when the ratio of the amount of the pot to the amount required to stay in the game. For example, if the pot is $100 and the amount needed to bet is $20 then the ratio is 5:1.

To win, the chance of winning odds must be greater than the pot odds. There are four players betting in this example. With these players, the chance of winning is 4:1, or better than the pot odds.

If the player wants to stay in the game long enough to either break even or to slim down the amount of players, this ratio must be met making this one of the most important strategies in poker. If the player bets on the pot odds of 5:1 and the chance of winning is 4:1 then the player has a better chance of winning, instead of breaking even than if there were five players left making the chance of winning even with the pot odds. This is an advantage to those who do not pay attention to this ratio.

The reason this strategy is the hardest to understand is because, once the pot gets higher, the amount of quick thinking also gets higher. In most poker games, there is a time limit for betting and sitting there multiplying and dividing, the odds can take up most of that time. Whereas it is a good strategy to take your time, it is a bad idea to spend all that time figuring out the odds rather than figuring out your hand.

The essential trait a person needs in order to win at poker is being able to be deceptive. Bluffing and slow playing are two key elements of deception. Being able to figure out people's tells and reading their poker faces is also very helpful.

Every player needs to be able to perform the principle strategy of poker, which is bluffing. The best tactic for winning is being able to bluff your opponents. How big or how low you bet is a way to bluff your opponents.

A very easy deception, pushing the other players to fold by slowly making the pot bigger is a good strategy unless you've used it too often and it has become a tell.

Being careful to not show the other players your hand by giving off hints, such as betting too big when you have a good hand, is a key to winning. These strategies will not always work in every hand as the majority of the chance of winning relies on what cards are flopped. However, these strategies will help you to, at least, eliminate many other players.

Necessary Steps To Winning at Poker

By Poker Cracker

There is no one strategy for winning a poker game. Since the luck of the draw is a major factor in winning at cards, poker is one of the hardest games to master. Many people have become master poker players so it is not an impossible dream.

The underlying strategy of playing poker is to play as if you can see your opponent's hand. Throughout all the other points made this is the key to it all. If you play as though you know what he has, then you are playing carefully and strategically.

Beating the pots odds by having a higher chance of winning is one of the hardest poker strategies to understand. For example, if the amount to stay in the game is $20 and the pot is at $100 then the ratio is 5:1. The amount of the pot to the amount required to stay in the game is the pot odds.

The chance of winning odds must be better than the pot odds. In this example, say there are only four people betting. The chance of winning is 4:1 making the chance of winning higher than that of the pot odds.

To either break even or slim down the amount of players, this ration must be met. The chance of winning is greater than the pot odds if four or fewer players are playing, however, if there are more players, the chance of winning is lessened. Those who pay attention to this ratio have a better chance of staying in the game than those who don't.

This strategy is the hardest to understand because the amount of quick thinking raises as the amount of the pot raises. There is a time limit in most poker games, which makes it harder to figure out the ratio and still have time to make your play. It is a good strategy to take your time, but not a good idea to use all that time to figure out the mathematics of the game.

Deception is the most essential trait a person needs in order to be good at poker. Two key elements of deception are bluffing and slow playing. Also helpful are reading people's poker faces and knowing their tells.

Bluffing is the principle strategy in deception. To bluff another player into believing you do not have whatever hand you have is the best tactic for winning. You bluff the other players by how big or how little you bet on each turn or hand.

Make sure you have a winner of a hand and then bet just above the minimum of the flop and the turn. Never begin a hand by betting too heavily because you opponents will see this as a tell. When you have a bad hand but still want to win, bet smoothly to make the other players think you have a better hand that you really do.

If the player has a very bad hand but bets very low to make the other players keep betting, he is a slow player. Once the other players are deep into the hand and it has become dangerous to stay in, the slow player will continue to bet until the others fold. Slowly making the pot bigger is a very easy deception, unless this has become your tell.

Betting too big when you have a good hand is giving off hints of your strategy, which is not the key to winning at poker. What cards are dealt is the majority of the chances of winning therefore, these strategies do not always work. If used right, these strategies will help you to win if just by eliminating other players.

Poker Players Speak Pig Latin

By Ronald Donnio

A language of their own is spoken by poker players. A few basic words needs to be learned by those who want to start playing poker but have never played to keep them from being automatically ambushed as a novice. Other players will not gang up on them if the new players learn the language.

The different items in poker have odd names. The most different language of all the poker games is in Texas Hold'em. By learning the lingo of Texas Hold'em, a new player will be able to understand any other form of poker.

The small blind is half of the big blind and usually the minimum in most games. The first two face down cards are dealt to all the players after the first two place their blinds. After this, which is called an ante in regular games of poker, the players decide if they are going to bet or fold after looking at their hole cards, the two that were dealt face down.

The player puts their two initial cards into the middle of the table if they decide to fold. If the player decided to bet, they will bet the same amount as the big blind. The first person who had placed the small blind then decides if he or she would like to stay in and if so, they will add to their small blind making it equal to the big blind.

Through combining two of men's favorite interests someone has been able to create something called "sports betting". Imagine a group of guys cheering on their favorite team and nearly always you will one of other making a bet. Now just think about this. No matter what the sport there are always going to be certain games that everyone is going to be talking about. In fact some it will be something that some sports buffs feel will change the course of history. Certainly to get a bit of the action some spectators like to guess who is going to be winning certain upcoming games. This is what then turns a friendly game into one with sports betting.

Some people say that gambling can be addictive, but sports betting is only to be used for fun and is a superb way for guys to bond with each other. They don't even have to place big bets to still have a good time. Through the use of sports betting it can make the whole game more meaningful for those watching it as well as add more excitement. In this article we look at the basics of sports betting to help you when you decide to give it a try.

There are various different kinds of bets that one can place when it comes to sports betting. The kinds of bets you place are known as straights (the most common type placed), parlays, teasers and over/unders. A straight bet is where you put money on whether the team will win or lose the game. Whilst under/over bets combine the number of points that the teams score during a particular game. As for parlays and teasers these are bets that involve a spread and this is where you bet on several games at once. However teasers offer you the chance to subtract or add points to your spread and this in turn could make your bet much stronger. To really make sports betting more challenging and interesting then one needs to get involved in the more complex types of bets we have mentioned here.

Above we have shown you what the basics are relating to sports betting. So why not give it a try some and have a little fun. But don't get carried away else you may find yourself using your retirement fund and having nothing left for your retirement.

Are Their Winning Online Poker Players Out There?

By Hairy Gingo

It might seem silly to want to be a professional poker player. To others however, there is no other profession desired. Poker, to the rest, is a fun pastime that can be financially rewarding as well as a confidence boost.

Beginner tells that most players who have been playing for a while and will no longer convey are facial expressions like surprise or anguish. A rudimentary law of poker is knowing your own facial expressions and controlling them. If you are playing with seasoned players, you cannot always trust this type of tell.

The most basic of tells is betting which most people cannot control consciously. Aggressive betting is forcing other players to bet on a hand that is known to be a losing hand. In most cases, aggressive playing is a good move.

If you have a matching pair in the face-down cards you were dealt in the beginning of the round, the hole, then you have a good hand. It is a hand with which you can play aggressively even if it is just a pair of twos. Bluffing with a pair usually wins because the chances of getting a pair are much higher than getting two pair.

If no other player seems to want to bet more than the minimum, and if you only have an ace in the hole, the chances are that the others do not have a pair. With this ace, you can bet, but unless you enjoy risks and have enough money to back up your adventurous nature, don't bet aggressively. However, remember that there is always a chance that the window will reveal a pair for another player.

A good play is any play that you feel comfortable with. You will be able to tell what to do with the first two cards you are dealt, after you have been playing for a while against people who have a little knowledge of the game. Most important, watch for tells, yours and theirs.

You Can Be A Profitable Poker player

By Johnny Knoxer

To make extra money, some people use poker. The fun and excitement of the game is another reason many people play poker. There are certain behaviors a person needs to understand in order to win the game no matter in which avenue you use poker.

A person must always pay attention to every detail to win money while playing poker. A player must always watch every portion of the game, from your own hand to the movements of the other players to the community cards. The player needs to always be on his guard because poker is an extremely unpredictable game.

Watching the other players movements allows you to discover their tells, if they have any. Some players only know how to make a few different plays. This leads to them becoming predictable and permitting you to know their next move in advance.

Having a group of different plays in your repertoire helps you have an advantage over your opponents. Aggressive betting and slow playing are two of the different plays you can know. These two plays alone do not guarantee a win every hand, but they will help you progress beyond the level of the novice.

The aggressive player has to always pay attention to the other players' stack of chips. This type of play is forcing the other players to bet more on a hand that they normally wouldn't. However, you must remember that an aggressive player usually is betting on a poor hand too.

The two cards dealt to you facedown, the hole cards, are an important factor in playing poker. Knowing if these cards are good enough to carry your hand, like an ace that has the same suit as the other card in your hole, will help you in deciding if you should bet. Remember, it is not necessarily a guarantee to win if you have just an ace in your hole.

It is a good bet to fold your cards if you do not have a matching pair of cards after the flop has been dealt. There is a good chance that the other players are waiting for the turn and the river cards to redeem their hand if you they seem timid in their bets. When they seem timid, it is a good time to become an aggressive bettor.

If you are missing one card to get a straight, it is almost impossible to get it. The chance of getting a straight, in a 52-card deck, is less than 1%. If you did not get the straight by the turn, and you do not even have an ace to fall back on, do not keep your hand.

Bet carefully when you have a pair since the chances of getting a pair are high. A pair will usually win a hand unless there is a possibility of a flush in the window. Everyone has the same chance of winning if that pair is in the window, though.

Bluffing is the most important aspect of the game of poker. You could have absolutely nothing in your hand, but if you are a good bluffer, you can make everyone think you have a high-ranking hand. Be careful with bluffing though, because it could become your tell if you do it too often.

Patience and inconsistency will help in your playing. Even without a high-ranking hand, if you do not develop a tell, you will be able to win. If you become an excellent observer and pay attention to every player, you will go far.

Sports Betting - Understanding The Basics

In this article we look at the basics of sports betting to help you when you decide to give it a try.

In order for you to place a bet you need to go to a Sports Book that is going to be a place that is willing to accept the bets you want to place. In the USA currently there are only 4 States where sports betting is legal. However, it can be done illegally as well as long as you can find a bookie and you are over the legal age for placing bets which over 21. The kinds of sports which you can bet on include both professional and college football and basketball, professional baseball, hockey and of horse racing and dog racing. In fact you can bet of anything that involves a sport really and there are different bets one can place. From betting on the overall combined score for a game, to which round your teams opponents are going to be knocked out in or whether the coin when tossed lands on its heads or tails. All you need to do is place a bet on what the statistical odds (chances of them winning or losing) are.

When it comes to sports betting, bookies rely on these statics to help them actually decide which teams are likely to win. They will use a thing called a "spread" which is where they give a points advantage to those teams that they feel are going to lose by a certain number of points. So this is the method they use for providing even bets in Sports Betting. So say you placed a bet on a team who is expected to lose their game, and then if they do you will still win as long as they have lost by the required number of points stated.

From time to time with this particular kind of bet you may be required to bet a few points higher above what you would actually win. The only reason you will be asked to do this is so that the bookie can actually make some money as well.

The reason for this, is that the money made is not taxable. In spite of this ban, online poker has become quite popular. They also have attractive sign up offers and other promotional bonuses.

There are poker bonuses that can be availed as free money which can be used to play in real cash games. This is generally the bonus code that the new player can receive during the first time of real cash play.

This amount can be used to gamble online. If you win the game, the money is yours. However, there are sites where you have to deposit money to get full use of their bonus codes. In such cases you can use a prepaid Visa card.

A sign up bonus is offered either when you first register an account with the online poker room, or when you create your first real cash deposit with the site. Every online poker room will offer some type of bonus codes to the new player sign up.

You should also know that the sign-up bonus offered by the poker room can be used just once. You cannot save the bonus code for a second deposit and expect a bonus. You can also lose the bonus if you do not use it soon enough.

You can use either real money or play money, to play a game of poker online. However, if you are playing with play money, you will never be able to cash it out. Deposit codes or bonus codes are signup incentives that are offered to players.

10 Best Things About Online Sportsbooks

By Simon M Skinner

Many of us have discovered the joy of online betting. Online betting allows us all to sit at home on a Saturday in our underwear relaxing, and still be able to bet on the season's most important basketball or football game. It is amazing that so many people want to bet online, but many of them do not know where or who to look to for help when betting. If you are a fan of online betting, you should most definitely look into a sportsbook. With this you can place your bets. Here are some criteria that you should look for in an online sportsbook.

1. Reputation. Obviously, you want to make sure you check out any gambling website thoroughly before signing up with them

2. Financial condition. You want to check out their financial background. You want them to be able to pay you if you win, right?

3. Ease of use. You don't want to have to be a rocket scientist to maneuver through the site.

4. Cost. Many gambling websites do charge a certain expense, usually 99 percent of the time. However, the website you use does not have to charge an outrageous expense.

5. Range of events. You probably will not always want to bet on a certain sport. Many people enjoy betting on football as well as basketball, and sometimes golf. You want an online sportsbook that allows you to bet on a variety of events.

6. Variety of location. Same theory as above, you don't want to only bet on events taking place at one arena or even in one country. With online betting, you have the world at your fingertips. Make sure that you can take advantage of that fact with your sportsbook.

7. Knowledge of the rules. When you use an online sportsbook, you still have to obey the rules that are set forth by the track, arena, etc. If you bet on a horse race, you are still obliged to follow the rules of that specific horse track, even if you are not at the track itself.

8. Availability. Make sure that your sportsbook is available by email as well as phone. It should also be available 24 hours a day so that you can check on certain events and bets whenever you need to.

9. Free things. Free stuff is something we all want. See if your sportsbook is able to match a percentage of your opening balance. Many online sportsbook also offer a sign up bonus.

10. Comprehensive website. This covers many things. Make sure that your online sportsbook does more than take your bet. It is always a good idea to use an online betting site that gives you information on the event as well as information on the players and the odds. It is also important that the sportsbook can provide you with results of the event.

Sports betting strategies - 3 Ways to Profit from sports betting

By Luke Lister

Do you hear about professional sports betters and think how good their lifestyle must be, and wonder if there are any sports betting strategies that could help you to life that life as well.

Sounds to good to be true doesn't it.

The truth is there are not very many people that actually make a living from sports betting, however there are some that do, and they do pretty well too.

Wouldn't you like to part of the 2% who are profitable. Can you learn what they do, it's not like they went to school for it, is it?

So what does it take to be a professional sports better.

Do sports betting professionals use sports betting strategies?

Most of the really goods ones, are actually just really big fans of sport, and study the teams and players religiously. They end up spending more hours in the day researching what the players are up to, then they would have to spend at a real job.

So as a beginner you have 3 choices to profiting from sports betting...

1st you can spend all your time studding the teams, players and performance levels. 2nd you can learn some sports betting strategies from the internet. Or 3rd you can leverage someone else's work, and let a professional make the picks for you.

I wanted to find out how hard it would be to profit with some of the sports betting strategies available.

So I got a team together, and we put 19 sports betting strategies to the test.

The results were mixed, the majority of systems tested were poor duplicates of one another.

But there were a few that stood out to be profitable. Obviously the most simple sports betting strategy we found, was the email tips. There is no system to learn, and forms to study.

On top of this, we also discovered some sports betting strategies in eBooks to be profitable, and even a software program.

In order to know what sports betting strategies will work for you, you should consider what it is you are really looking for.

If you are a huge sports fan and have plenty of spare time you could just study the teams, and maybe one day it will all click for you.

However If you are intrigued by the lifestyle and don't have as much time, then perhaps learning sports betting strategies from a eBook would suit you best.

But if you just want to make some money as quickly as possible, and don't care how, then the best sports betting strategies would have to be the email picks.

When you find the sports betting strategy you like, go with a system that others have used profitably. Unless you have the money to burn avoid the New Hype.

How To Choose Between Limit And No-Limit Poker

By Sam Whittaker

Limit poker is a battle of the mind. It is any game in which there is a fixed limit on how much you can bet or raise in any round. Limit games usually offer either fixed-sized bets for different betting rounds or spread limits, in which there is a minimum and maximum bet for each round.

Bluffing is seldom used in limit poker. The majority of hands are played directly. Making the right decisions consistently over a period of time is imperative, while no-limit relies on applying pressure at the correct time to take the large pots.

When limit poker is being played and the small blinds are in relation to the size of the stacks, not a lot will be achieved apart from ensuring no players can go broke for a while. This will prohibit the level of skill in the game. This type of low limit poker is one of the simplest you can play and only requires a small amount of selective aggression.

While playing limit poker you know what you have to achieve. The best results are attained by the use of maths and game formula. Limit poker uses a more scientific application, no-limit can be described more like art.

No-limit is a different game entirely and you will have to have a good grasp on the game before you start to study and play it. Limit is in no way a "less advanced" game however, it just doesn't involve some of the same strategies. No-limit poker is ideal for poker pros who want to win big pots by betting all-in, even if their hands are not the best. Limit poker is more recommended for poker beginners because the possible losses are smaller compared to those in no-limit poker.

The finest poker players in both game types share common strengths. In both limit and no-limit poker assertiveness and patience are fundamental. Timing when to attack is required to triumph.

Introduction to sports betting

By Snejk, Gimcio

Classic betting In the majority of sports betting, one can gamble on 1, x, 2, 1x or x2. It stands for:

1 - gambling on 1, in general, we bet on the victory of the home team or on a player who is simply mentioned as the first in a bet X - it represents indication on a draw in a meeting we bet on 2 - indication on 2 means a course suggested on the guests of a meeting or on a player, a team mentioned as a second in a bet 1x - a course of this indication means that the home team will not lose - they win in the case of a victory or a draw X2 - as above, but we bet that the guests won't lose 12 - such bet stands for the victory of hosts or guests. If we gambled on such betting and there is a draw, we lose.

Bets 1, x, 2, 1x, x2 are met in meetings where a draw is possible, while 1 and 2 are met in bets where one can only win or lose.

(Classic) European handicap Handicap is a form of levelling of courses, especially when players or teams, with varied potential, are facing each other. In football the most common is handicap +1 -1 which means adding the weaker team 1 goal at the start or deduction of one goal the stronger team.

Example Match Liverpool V Manchester UTD +1 1.90 -1 1.95 In an example above, at the start, Liverpool has handicap 1 goal. It means that in the case of betting on Liverpool with handicap, a draw is enough to win, whereas in the case of gambling on MU we need at least a 2 goal victory - 1 goal win will cause our loss.

Sports betting over/under A course under 2,5 means that in a given match one will shoot no more than 2,5 goals. In such bet, one wins when the sum of goals of the final score is smaller than 2,5, for example: 1-1, 1-0, 0-1, 0-0. If in the match one scores more than 2,5 goals, your coupon is written off.

An odd over 2,5 means that in a given match one will shoot more than 2,5 goals. It is a similar situation as in the case of the course under 2,5 but inversely - you win when the sum of goals of the final score is bigger than 2,5, for example: 2-1, 3-0, 2-2, 0-3. If in the match one scores less than 2,5 goals, you lose.

Good luck!

Flash Casinos are not used properly

By Steve Briggs

Flash casinos are a great addition to an online casino network but some people have a misunderstanding of the actual purpose they serve. Yes it is true they are designed so that there is no need to download anything to your computer. Where the misunderstanding comes in is when people see the slogan "instant play" or "no downloading necessary, be playing in minutes". Flash games certainly live up to those claims but what isn't said is that the overall time involved for the process of downloading the casino and then registering for an account (which is something you would have to complete whether playing at the flash version or the download version) is not very much different.

Further is that once the download version has finished loading onto your computer it is much faster than the flash games, especially when changing from one game to another. The download version switches instantly where as the whole process of leaving the flash game and returning to the menu and then waiting for it to load, just seems to take so much more time that it almost becomes frustrating because you were told this was an instant play casino so you expect everything to happen right now and that simply isn't how the flash games work.

Then in many cases such as the flash casinos powered by Microgaming, the leader in the online gambling industry, the menu is several pages and it usually takes at least two clicks to find the game you're wanting to play next so you must wait for each page to load same as you would for any page on the internet only the flash games must have a lot involved because their load time is considerably longer than the time it takes for most web pages to load.

So what good are flash casinos if they are not faster and offer only about half the games as do the download versions? The answer to that is exactly why flash casinos have found a place for themselves nearly ten years beyond the first arrival of most online casinos, which is that they are convenient for those who want to gamble but are away from their home PC. That is entirely the reason flash casinos still exist today, aside from the few who may still need the room on their PC but that must be a minority by now considering that I can easily fit three or four online casinos on this writer's PC and still have room for Front Page editor version 2003 which takes up over four hundred megabytes and compare that to a RealtimeGaming powered casino which takes up seventy-two megabytes.

Lack of room on a PC shouldn't be a concern in this day and age but being able to gamble when away from home is a nice convenience that continues to be used by many online gamblers who enjoy playing while sitting at the office or while out on the road. Before getting married and settling down I use to enjoy the convenience of being able to log in from a girlfriend's house or apartment and we'd kill some time taking turns playing the slots or video poker games. That is the proper use of a flash casino in current times.

Casino Rewards Network Says No to Advatage Players - part 3

By Steve Briggs

If you are one of these kind of players the terms seek to discourage, and you still choose to play at at Casino Rewards site and you try to beat the system in an obvious method, expect to not get paid. The casino is being quite upfront about this matter and in fact is giving away the recipe for not being accused, simply play a little deeper than the minimums.

Advantage players are very savvy and know the casinos do not want their business but they choose to force the issue because it is the only chance they have to enter into a gambling situation and have a positive expectation. It is already understood that a casino cannot stay in business if it is giving out better than it receives, and players choose to give up that percentage the house has over them in order to have a place to go gamble and know they will be paid when they win.

What these kind of terms really hurt is the casino because it will be taken wrong by a percentage of people, and legitimate players who read about these issues and have not yet been involved with online gambling long enough to realize the casino is in fact saving money that can be given to them, will not sign up to play there. Those players lose out because Casino Rewards have been the top of my reputable list for nearing ten years and I've had only one complaint in all that time and that one was due to the player misunderstanding when they were to get credited for a high hand bonus at the poker site. That's an outstanding record in my book, by any standards actually, but especially when you know the incompetence, greed and over-indulged egos that lurk out there in the virtual casino world.

These are casinos time-proven to pay even the biggest of amounts of money, such as the recent winner located in Finland who was paid a whopping five and a half million dollars from BlackjackBallroom on a fifty cent slot machine bet that resulted in the jackpot.

If I can trust Casino Rewards in knowing they pay those kind of jackpot amounts, then I think I can trust them to be able to look at my proven play history and determine I am not a bonus chaser. I do not deposit and play the minimum, only then to cash out. The only people who will have such reason to complain about these terms are those who are first time players that have accepted a bonus and then played the minimum required wagers to cash out. If that isn't the definition of an advantage player then what would be? The casinos are making it very clear they don't want this kind of player, they are not welcome, and that they are not going to have how they run their business dictated to them by a group of opportunists. If you choose to call the casino unfair for making these terms and conditions clearly available to be known before any money exchanges hands, then so be it.

However legitimate players with a savvy of online gambling will not find such terms threatening and enjoy having the confidence in knowing they are playing at an online casino in the network of the likes of Blackjack Ballroom which as mentioned just paid out five and a half million dollars. This was reported on Fox news the month of April, 2008 and is a matter of public record.

One last thing, Casino Rewards, the network accused of trying to avoid paying the small withdrawals by those profiled as not accepting the bonus in spirit given, is the same network that just recently bought the failed network of casinos that included Golden Reef, Challenge, Nostalgia and Music City, who closed their doors while still having many of their player's money. Casino Rewards announced when they bought the failed network that all outstanding debt to the players would be paid by them thus ensuring nobody got hurt. Rather an odd act of charity to come from some place willing to stoop to cheating bonus chasers out of a few dollars, wouldn't you say? Or is it that Casino Rewards has taken their stance based on principal, rather than on trying to save a few dollars?

Casino Rewards Network Says No to Advatage Players - part 2

By Steve Briggs

I mentioned that these players only grind out a few dollars and that is true for the majority of them but they also have every bit as much a chance of being a big winner as the next guy, and inevitably their sheer numbers alone will undoubtedly take their toll on the casino bottom line.

The real damage done in paying these players is it sets precedent which will have those undesireable type of players increase to such numbers that what is now an out-of-hand situation turn into a horrible disaster for the casinos. Instead of gaining loyal customers the casinos, all online casinos, would see gamblers jumping from one bonus to the next like herds of locusts and when the good grazing was gone so would be the players that these bonus offers were created to aquire. Therefore not only defeating the whole purpose of offering a sign-up bonus but it actually would be working against that desired result as it would teach players to jump from one spot to the next, the exact opposite of what was sought.

I personally don't think it would be a bad thing for the legitimate casinos to get away from the sign-up bonus because it does create so much controversy. It does take comps away from what the legitimate player could be enjoying and is the entire motivation for a segment of opportunists to exist which otherwise would be somewhere else mooching freebies. They are taking away from the legitimate enthusiasts of the hobby.

If the casinos would put that sign-up bonus money towards such endeavors as increasing loyalty rewards and existing player bonuses it stands to reason the controversy over play-through requirements would end because so would the need for their very existence. I have lobbied for this approach for years and would very much like to see it that way. Reward those deserving and the casino not put itself in a position for parasites to feed on its blind sides.

However the casinos believe that if they can get a player to come in and try them that their payout percentages are so good that the player wil be impressed enough to want to come back and play again. The only way to get people to come in however and try online gambling is to offer them the chance to gamble using somebody else's money, namely the casino's dime in this instance. The casino doesn't mind putting up the money but they want in return an honest effort by the new player to try out the casino. If the casino states upfront they will not fall victim to such tactics as are seen from bonus chasers, then they are stating they they won't let their legitimate players pay any further price for the actions of a group of people who have no honorable intentions in respect to the spirit in which the bonus was offered. Frankly I don't see where anybody with legitimate intent stands to get hurt? Certainly not more often than they would if the bonus requirements were increased to a point where the casino doesn't have as much risk in losing the free money they are bleeding out.

Everything else aside, it doesn't take a genius to figure out that if you just played a little deeper into the game than quitting just when you hit the minimum play-through requirements, that you wouldn't have to worry about being accused of this issue. The major reason behind the complaints voiced is that they are coming from bonus chasers who as I mentioned are seeking to play the bare minimum and then cash out whatever small amount they were able to hedge. Any extra playing risks their losing what small financial gain they have made.

Poker Has Been Around For Centuries

By Mr. Casino Bonus

People have been playing poker since the 1700's. It is claimed to be the oldest game that has not varied much over the years. It is believed that it will last for centuries more.

Historians claim that three versions of poker have been around for centuries. most historians allege these three countries are the basis of modern day poker Persia as the game of as nas, Germany as pochspiel, and France as poque. Poker's name derives from the French word poque, which translates to English as "to bluff."

The origins of the game have been debated for years. No one will ever know exactly from where poker came. However, there is no argument that it is an exciting and fun game to play.

Poker became popular during the Revolutionary War in the United States. The game of choice for soldiers was the version of stud that used only three cards. The five-card version of stud became a useful diversion during the Civil War.

A 20-card deck was dealt to four soldiers. The lower cards, 2 through 9 were eliminated for this version. The players bet on which one of them would have the better hand.

Once the game included all of the cards in a 52-card deck, the game became more complicated. With the lower cards involved, the game also gained more popularity. This popularity brought poker further than just a simple game between soldiers trying to forget where they were.

Poker got its start in New Orleans during the early 1800's, it is also believed. Through riverboats then the game expanded up the Mississippi river. This is where riverboat casinos on the Mississippi got their start too.

It is believed that the gold miners brought poker through the west into California. As it traveled through the west, casinos and saloons picked it up as daily sport. This institutionalized poker as a "wild west" staple.

Seven-card stud is the most popular version of poker played in modern days. Las Vegas casinos made it famous in recent years. Specially made for the seven-card game called Texas Hold'em, tournaments and tables have been put to good use.

Still played today in many casinos and online, the many different versions developed through the years. The three card version is the only type that did not make it through evolution. It is lost in the past now.

Many things last throughout time, but poker is probably the most exciting. The longevity of the game thus far proves its durability and addictiveness. While some things may wane with time, poker will be around forever.

Overview about Poker Chips

By Ravi

Poker chips are used to keep track during gambling and replace money during the game. When it comes to poker chips there are so many different types to choose from. Your decision generally rests mainly on the quality of the equipment you desire and how much would you be able to spend. Clay composite chip sets were popular in the early 1800s and today are rarely used mainly because they are more expensive and tend to break easily.

For home gambling metal core poker or plastic chip sets are used. Plastic chips are the most inexpensive and of the type you might find in many mahjong sets. It need not be said that they are not of the highest quality and seasoned players may dislike plastic chips as they don't provide the best feel or sound for the chips. The metal core ones are heavier, can be customized in design and color scheme, which adds that special casino feel to them. Plastic poker chip sets are more lightweight and can be damaged more easily.

They are less expensive and can be bought anywhere in any quantity. The composite variety is made from mixing clay and plastic with a bit of metal. They also have the right weight and feeling and are extremely durable. 11.5g composite chips are probably the standard chips used in most households as they are available in retail.

Plastic poker chip sets are the best choice for beginners in gambling, or for people who play occasionally. When people become serious about poker and start playing regularly, they prefer to invest in metal core poker chip sets or even in composite clay poker chip sets.

Poker chip sets are widely available on the Internet. Most companies when you place an order send a sample chip. Poker chips come either in a single color or maybe two or three colors. While a single color chip may appear a bit pale a three colored chip may be a bit too loud on the eyes of many. Generally the preferred choice is dual color chips if you buy one separately, look for a case made of metal or hard wood, with a reliable lock and soft interior lining to protect chips and cards.

Poker Has Been Around For Centuries

By Mr. Casino Bonus

Poker has been played for centuries. It is claimed to be the oldest game that has lasted through the ages. It has evolved and will remain for centuries more.

There are three claimed origins of poker. The Persian game of as nas, German pochspiel, and French poque are the sources most historians allege were the basis of modern day poker. Poker's name derives from the French poque.

Historians have been debating the origins of poker from decades. No one really knows from where poker exactly originated. However, none of them argue that poker is a fabulously entertaining game.

In the United States, poker became popular during the Revolutionary War. The version of stud that used only three cards was the game of choice for soldiers. The five-card version became useful distraction during the Civil War.

Dealt the entire amount of a 20-card deck, five-card poker began as a game for four people. The lower cards of a normal 52-card deck were eliminated in this version. Out of the four players the object was to bet on the person with the best hand.

The game became more complicated once the game included all of the cards in a 52-card deck. The game also gained more popularity with the lower cards involved. Further than just a simple game between soldiers trying to forget where they were, this brought poker new popularity.

It is also believed that poker got its start in New Orleans during the early 1800's. Then the game expanded up the Mississippi river through riverboats. Gambling has continued to this day on the Mississippi on riverboat casinos.

Of the many things that have tested the tribulations of time, poker is the most exciting. Due to its durability and addictiveness, poker has lasted thus far. While some things remain a fad that has faded, poker will last as it is for another couple of centuries.

Explaining Sports Betting In Simple Terms

By Allison Thompson

Through combining two of men's favorite interests someone has been able to create something called "sports betting". Imagine a group of guys cheering on their favorite team and nearly always you will one of other making a bet. Now just think about this. No matter what the sport there are always going to be certain games that everyone is going to be talking about. In fact some it will be something that some sports buffs feel will change the course of history. Certainly to get a bit of the action some spectators like to guess who is going to be winning certain upcoming games. This is what then turns a friendly game into one with sports betting.

Although many say betting is addictive this form is very much just for fun and is often the ideal way to bond with your mates. You do not need to even lay down big bets just to have a good time. Sports betting can actually make the whole outcome of the game far more meaningful and exciting for those watching or listening to it. Below we offer a few basics with regard to sports betting to help you get started.

For a person in the USA to place bets they first need to be a member of a Sports Book which is a place where any bets you place will be accepted. At present you it is only legal to bet in 4 states in the USA and you can do it illegally in others but you need to find yourself a bookie and also you must be over the legal age for betting which is 21 years. Once you have become a member of Sports Book now you can start placing bets on any sports event you want. You can place bets on both professional and college football and basketball games, you could bet on professional baseball or hockey games. You could if you wanted even bet on the toss of a coin (whether it lands on its head or its tails) as well as horse racing and dog racing. Plus there are numerous different combinations of bets that you can place from ones where you bet what the combined score of the two teams in the game will be at the end to what round your teams opponents are going to be knocked out of the competition. So what you are doing is betting on the statistical odds relating to whether the team win or lose.

From time to time with this particular kind of bet you may be required to bet a few points higher above what you would actually win. The only reason you will be asked to do this is so that the bookie can actually make some money as well.
